Stargazing at Jefferson College

Jefferson College has established an astronomical observing facility on the college campus. This facility includes an "Observing Patio", where the Public is invited to observe the skies at their leisure. The Observing Patio is located next to the Observatory and Softball Field parking lot. 

Travel on Hwy 21 to the Jefferson College/Hayden Rd exit. Turn south onto Hayden Rd and then in approximately 1/4 mile turn west on to Farm Road. We have installed new campus signs at the entrance to the observatory at Farm Road. Make immediate left turn in direction of parking lot.
The Public is welcome to use this site on any evening that the college campus is open. Members should aware that events already scheduled by the college will take priority. The ball fields are not lighted and there should not be any night games or light interference. Electrical power outlets are available. Three porta-potties are next to the parking lot. Members should bring their own water, chairs, and equipment. Please read all the guidelines below.

General access guidelines
1. Campus Police patrol this area and security cameras are in use. 
2. Persons will be responsible for their own safety and conduct
3. Food and drink (within campus rules) can be brought to facility but must be removed at end of event
4. Contact the campus police for any safety or emergency issues (636) 481-3500.
5. All attendees must park in the designated softball field parking lot
6. Parking on roadways and blocking exits is not allowed
7. There are no restrictions on times to be scheduled but in general times will be between sunset and sunrise.
8. Events must be cancelled if the campus is closed due to weather or emergency
9. All College campus rules of conduct must be followed
 
 

Driving Directions: 

To visit Jefferson College:   From southbound Missouri route 21, take the Hayden road exit. Turn right onto Hayden and then a quick left turn onto Jefferson College Drive.  In about 1500 ft., turn right onto Farm road (street not marked). In about 400 ft. turn left and park in the softball field parking lot.

From northbound Missouri route 21, take the exit for Missouri route A. Turn left to cross over highway 21, then turn right onto Jefferson College Drive. Drive about 1 mile and turn left onto Farm road (street not marked), which is the first left past the main entrance to Jefferson College. From westbound Missouri route A, pass over Missouri route 21 and follow the above directions.
