Digital Imaging

In the past few years digital cameras have revolutionized astrophotography. Today almost any digital SLR or compact camera capable of exposure times greater than a few seconds can capture stars and constellations if mounted to a standard camera tripod. Video cameras and cell phones can be hand-held to the eyepiece of small telescopes to capture the Sun, Moon and planets. Even the orbiting International Space Station can be imaged as a streak across the sky.

The SLAS Loaner Telescope Program has three telescopes suitable for astrophotography.
