The SLAS loaner telescopes range in size from a 75mm refractor to a 13” reflector. Three telescopes are suitable for astrophotography. SLAS also has two specialized solar telescope for safe viewing. Update Feb 2026 - SLAS was the recent beneficiary of a donated Tectron 14.5-inch Truss tube telescope. This telescope was featured in the June 1990 issue of Sky & Telescope magazine. The scope is in great shape.  The Tectron scope features a Galaxy Optics mirror, a 2-inch focuser (with 1.25-inch adaptor), trusses which allow the scope to be broken down to a manageable size, and an NGC Max digital setting circles.   At F5.5, this is great planetary scope, but you will need a step ladder with one or two steps, as the eyepiece reaches 80 inches at the zenith.
