What’s up? – Winter is approaching and it brings early sunsets and clear skies. Winter is dominated by the constellation of Orion rising due east as seen from St. Louis. If you have a good view to the West, look for the Summer Triangle made up of the three starts: Vega, Deneb and Altair. Sandwiched in between Taurus and the summer stars are the fall constellations of Pegasus, Andromeda, Cassiopeia and Perseus. As winter continues the mighty planet Jupiter begins it rise in the east. This is a perfect time of year to explore these constellations and you will find stellar nurseries, dense star clusters, and distant galaxies.
